Genealogisch en biografisch onderzoek LeeuwardenLeeuwarden is the capital of the northern province of Friesland, the only bi-lingual region of the Netherlands. Both Dutch and Frisian are the official languages of this province. Leeuwarden became the capital of Friesland in 1504. Its population is slightly over 90.000.
The HCL is the centre for historical information and activities in Leeuwarden. Our organization, the former Leeuwarden Municipal Archives, preserves the archives and collections of Leeuwarden from the late medieval times up to the present. Apart from the archives, the HCL also has a large historical library and a huge image collection |

| I recently bought the book Mother And Child Were Saved - by Catharina Schrader, midwife in Friesland in the
17th, 18th century. She left a diary in which she not only noted the
number of children she helped to deliver, but also a lot of details.
Maybe she delivered one of your ancestors. I found one of my ancestors in there.
