Prince Edward Island Baptismal Index - Public Archives and Records OfficeThe Prince Edward Island Baptismal Index is a database of baptismal records, taken from existing church records from across the Island. In lieu of official birth certificates which were not issued until 1906, baptismal records provide information concerning individuals’ births and parentage. The database contains over 168,700 records which span approximately the years 1777 to 1923.

This site provides valuable information about the people of Prince Edward Island for those interested in genealogy, history, and the geography of the colony of Prince Edward Island in the 19th and early-20th centuries.
A number of Census documents, both full Census and index only, are available for search, as well as various supporting documents for each individual year. Currently there are 4 searchable Census documents available:
1841 Census: Full Census Detail, covering roughly 40% of the colony.
1881 Census: Index to all individuals.
1891 Census: Index to all individuals except for Lots 21 & 22 (missing from the original record).
1901 Census: Index to all individuals.

Prince Edward Island Petition Index - Public Archives and Records OfficeThe Prince Edward Island Petition Index is a searchable database of petitions or “memorials” made to the Governor and Executive Council of Prince Edward Island by individuals or groups requesting a wide variety of resources and assistance. The majority of petitions, including some from Loyalists, deal with requests for land, however others include requests for money, equipment, contracts, and the building and repair of roads. The petitions found in this database date from 1780 to 1915.

Island ImaginedThe Island Imagined is an online collection of historic maps of Prince Edward Island. The collection features maps, atlases, books, images, and documents from the Prince Edward Island Public Archives and Records Office, the Prince Edward Island Museum and Heritage Foundation, and the Robertson Library at the University of Prince Edward Island. The Island Imagined contains over 1,000 maps including an early map of the region circa 1574 attributed to Giacomo Gastaldi and features a digitized version of Meacham's Atlas from 1880.
